I have no relevant testimonial but i was a drug user for five years and i have be off them in a minute for almost six years. I just want to comfort people who are within the situation that i was surrounded by. I can tell you more going on for drugs and what they do than a drug councellor with adjectives qualifications needed underneath his belt because i have unadulterated life experience?I want to be a drug councellor. i think your right, duration experience and recovery is better than adjectives the books or testimonial when working with addict. look up your local drug programmes or drop in centre and see if you can get some voluntary work to draw from you started.
most drug counselling organisations ask for at least 5 years verbs time (which you have, ably done). i think next to your history, some basic counsellor training you would amble into any drug project.
to work at any treatment centre, you must hold qualifications presently, diploma in counselling minimum.(sorry thats in recent times the way it is now). compared to dealing near your own addiction, the training will be well inside your reach.
