If CT scan shows an atypical digentirous cyst contained by maxillary sinus does that parsimonious its cancerous?
NO... not necessarily.
they may have to do a biopsy to find out
if it is cancerous or not...
It say atypical which means deviating from commonplace.
dentigerous means have teeth.
cyst is a closed sac that develops abnormally within some body structure.
maxillary sinus is
one of a pair of sinuses forming a cavity within the maxilla
which is the location of the cyst...
goodluck...
A cyst can be benign, (non cancerous) or Malignant (cancerous). Since there is a cyst doesn't necessarily anticipate it is the dreaded cancer, but somewhere down the road, it can be. Make sure that you keep your Dr. informed and preserve your follow-up appointments.
I'm only a dental hygienist, but I guess you may be referring to a dentigerous cyst, not digentirous cyst. A dentigerous cyst is basically an "extra tooth" located outside of the run of the mill location, which is inside your mouth! It can be found inside the hard palate, the maxillary sinus, along next to other locations. Atypical means not typical, which does not necessarily show cancer. Usually those cysts can be removed laparoscopically, if I'm correct. So.don't jump too suddenly on the cancer train..it's probably not going there.
A cyst is not cancerous. Your doctor should own some treatment options for your cyst. Ask him what the treatment plan is.
