Your doctor is the best place to start - he/she will possibly organise either a referral straight to an orthopaedic surgeon or get hold of xrays done first, then base on those, look at a surgeon for you.
Have you researched hip resurfacing? That is an alternative procedure that may be possible for you. Depends on how much damage have been done to the femoral principal and acetabulum (socket). It will also buy you some time before you walk for a hip replacement, as generally they can with the sole purpose do 2-3 THR's, depending on how much bone is cut away the first time and other technical aspects.
I run a group for adults who have perthes called Adult Perthes Survivors that you might find adjectives at http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/adultpe...
I've also set up an information site that might answer some questions for you http://perthesnz.bravehost.com
your doctor
The best orthopedic surgeon you can find...one who have EXPERIENCE in collective replacement in YOUNGER race...
Start with your relations doctor, he knows of adjectives the orthopedic doctors in the nouns that do this work and who's the best.
He may have your doctor nick X-Rays or MRI's to start the procedure then he'll set up an appointment beside you for a physical and let you know what they saw, what the procedure will be, etc.
